Born in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne, where he obtained his first prize for flute, Yoann Couix moved to the capital at the age of 15 to continue his studies at the “Conservatoire de Paris”. With adapted timetables at Racine high school, he obtained the D.E.M. for flute, music theory and analysis. He also takes harmony, music history and chamber music classes.

Admitted to the “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris” in 2005, Yoann Couix obtained an analysis prize in the class of Alain Louvier and a master’s degree in flute in the class of Pierre-Yves Artaud and Florence Souchard-Delépine.
Having obtained the D.E. in 2007, he is an assistant professor at the “École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot”.
He perfected his skills in piccolo with Pierre Dumail and Nathalie Rozat.
Yoann Couix has a passion for chamber music and the orchestra, where he took a conducting class with Claire Levacher.

He has played with “Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, Orchestre de Picardie, Orchestre d’Auvergne, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris…”

He was a member of the French Youth Orchestra in 2007 and 2008 under the direction of Jean-Claude Casadesus and Denis Russell Davies.
Yoann Couix has played solo flute with the “Orchestre Symphonique de l’Aube” since 2012.

He won first prize at the international flute competition in Split (Croatia) in March 2015.
In 2018, Yoann Couix joined the “Musique de la Gendarmerie Mobile” as a piccolo playing the flute.
Since 2019, he has directed “Les Joyeux Trilles” and has made numerous arrangements for flute choir.
In 2024, he was awarded a special prize at the Solent Music Festival composition competition with “Sails & Wings” for flute and clarinet.
